Metabolic equations were developed by Liberty Mutual to predict oxygen consumption for individual and combination materials handling tasks. The calculated expenditure limit is expressed as the rate of oxygen consumption per minute (VO2).

The calculator on this website converts the VO2 value to kcal per minute. According to Mital et al. (1993), the threshold limit for a male population is 4 kcal per minute and for a female population 3 kcal per minute.

Lower low vertical range:
  •  14 cm to 76 cm (females)
  •  14 cm to 81 cm (males)

Lower centre vertical range:
  •  76 cm to 137 cm (females)
  •  81 cm to 145 cm (males)
